Jimmy Kolaitis will be named the new head coach at UAB, sources have confirmed to JWOS.
Kolaitis had most recently been an assistant coach at Oregon, where he helped lead the Ducks to the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament in 2018 and a berth in the Women’s College World Series. Kolaitis spent five seasons as the hitting coach at Oregon, shepherding the Ducks’ offense and helping lead the team to a quartet of Women’s College World Series appearances.
Prior to his time at Oregon, Kolaitis spent five years at South Alabama as an assistant coach, in charge of the offense and recruiting. He is widely considered to be one of the top recruiters in the nation.
Kolaitis’ resume also includes time spent on the coaching staffs of the Chicago Bandits and Scrap Yard Dawgs in the National Pro Fastpitch league. A Troy alum, Kolaitis’ resume also includes four seasons on the baseball coaching staff at his alma mater.
He takes over a UAB program that posted a record of 26-32-1 this past season, with a 15-8-1 mark in Conference USA matchups.
