The Florida Gulf Coast League has added another team in preparation for the 2021 summer season; the Siesta Key Phinz have been announced as the league’s newest member.
The Phinz are the second team to join the league following the FGCL’s debut season that took place this summer. Seven teams competed in the league’s inaugural season, and the Phinz follow the Sarasota Circus as new additions.
Former men’s fastpitch player and current Furman assistant coach Aaron Vail will serve as the Phinz head coach during the 2021 summer season. The Paladins were well-represented in the league during its first year, with Vail’s fellow assistant coach Pete Berrios serving as a head coach in the league and multiple members of the team’s roster participating as players.
A league announcement noted that the Phinz will be one of ten teams competing in the FGCL next year.
