Five members of the Louisiana Tech roster have entered the transfer portal within the last ten days.
Bayli Simon, Kailey Anderson, Sloane Stewartson, AJ Williams, and Lexi Pope have each entered their names in the portal, sources confirmed to JWOS. Simon was the first to elect to transfer, entering the portal on April 22nd. Anderson’s name appeared on April 29th, while Stewartson, Williams, and Pope were placed in the portal on May 1st.
Pope was a freshman during the 2020 campaign and appeared in five games as a pinch runner. Williams, a sophomore, enters the portal with three years of eligibility remaining. Anderson, Simon, and Stewartson are all juniors, though Anderson also carries the distinction of transferring as a graduate student.
Simon was a three-year starter for the Lady Techsters and earned Second Team All-Conference USA honors in 2019; she was also named to the C-USA All-Tournament Team and the All-State team by the Louisiana Sportswriters Association. A two-time NFCA Scholar Athlete, she ends her tenure in Ruston with a .254 batting average, 21 doubles, and 53 RBIs.
Williams sat out the 2020 season, while Anderson hit .263 and went 4-4 in stolen bases in her first year as a full-time starter. A former C-USA All-Freshman selection and a two-time all-conference tournament honoree, Stewartson hit nine home runs with forty-five RBIs during her first two years in Ruston, but collected just one hit in three starts during the abbreviated 2020 campaign.
A year removed from sharing the regular season conference championship and winning the C-USA tournament crown, the Lady Techsters finished 8-16 during the shortened 2020 season, with a 2-1 record in the sole conference series that they played before the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the remainder of the year.
