Giselle Juarez, known as “G”, has announced her intentions to transfer from Arizona State.
Juarez is the second Sun Devils star to announce her transfer from the program on Tuesday; freshman star Danielle Gibson made a similar announcement just hours before Juarez.
In a message posted to her personal Twitter account, Juarez said, “”Playing in front of my hometown crowd was nothing short of a blessing and an honor. I am forever grateful to the Sun Devil coaches, my family, teammates, friends, and the Sun Devil nation for believing in me. As tough decision’s (sic) go, I have made the very difficult decision to transfer from Arizona State University. I wish nothing but good things for Sun Devil softball. My last two years may be on a different field and in front of a different crowd but I will never forget the roar you left in my heart. Until next pitch… G.”
Juarez earned first-team all-American honors after an incredible 2018 season that saw her post a 1.21 overall ERA in more than 224 innings of work in the circle. The mark placed her fourth in the nation among pitchers with at least 200 innings pitched. Juarez collected 305 strikeouts and a 26-6 overall record.
In addition to her all-American honor, Juarez was also named to the all-Pac 12 and all-region first teams and was a top ten finalist for the National Player of the Year award.
A former member of the US Junior Women’s National Team, Juarez spent the 2018 international season on the roster of team Puerto Rico and was a part of considerable growth in that nation’s softball program on the international stage.
The Sun Devils reached the Women’s College World Series in 2018 as the #8 overall seed in the NCAA tournament after posting a 43-11 record during the regular season.
