Fresno State pitcher Hailey Dolcini is transferring from the Bulldogs program.
Dolcini announced her plans on social media on Thursday morning. “Red Wave… thank you,” she began her statement. “Thank you for welcoming me into Fresno with open arms and making this place feel like home. None of the success I had would have been possible without all of your support throughout the years. I am beyond thankful for my time here, the memories made and for all the people that I have met along the way.
“Those of you that know me, know how much I love this program and the Valley and can understand this decision was one of the most difficult decisions. With that being said, it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to graduate this December and enter the transfer portal to begin my Master’s degree and finish my playing career elsewhere.”
The 2021 Mountain West Pitcher of the Year, Dolcini enjoyed a stellar true senior season that included the 11th-best ERA in the nation. She finished the year with a 22-5 overall record, a 1.12 ERA, and 259 strikeouts. In addition to her conference Pitcher of the Year award, Dolcini also earned all-conference and all-region first-team honors and was a Top 25 finalist for the National Player of the Year award.
After beginning her career at UC Riverside in 2018 – when she earned all-region honors as a true freshman – Dolcini transferred to Fresno State and earned All-Mountain West honors in every year of her tenure as a Bulldog.
Upon choosing her new destination, Dolcini will have a single season of eligibility remaining under the NCAA’s extended eligibility waiver that was granted following the abrupt end to the 2020 season.
