Holy Cross has signed head coach Jen Lapicki to a contract extension through the 2022 season.
Lapicki is in her third season at the helm of the Crusaders and boasts a 35-94 overall record during her tenure, with a 15-33 showing in conference play, with eight games to go in the 2019 season. In 2017, her first year at Holy Cross, Lapicki led the Crusaders to a 13-30 overall record and an 8-10 mark in Patriot League play, guiding the squad to the conference tournament that season for the first time in six years.
During the 2019 season, two of the Crusaders’ ten wins have come against Harvard and Boston College, the program’s first victories over those teams since 1998 and 1996, respectively, according to a university release. The program has also seen the emergence of freshman pitcher Kelly Nelson, who sports a 2.68 ERA on the year, with 175 strikeouts in over 154 innings of work in the circle.
Prior to being named the Crusaders’ head coach, Lapicki spent a single season as the head coach of the New Jersey Breakers’ program, and was previously an assistant coach at Princeton and Iona.
As a player, Lapicki began her career at Tennessee and was named to the SEC’s All-Freshman team in 2008. After spending two years in Knoxville, she transferred to Florida State and earned all-ACC second-team and all-tournament honors as a senior in 2011.
