Division III Illinois Wesleyan enjoyed quite the weekend, earning a quartet of wins on Friday and Saturday while also seeing their coach earn a milestone win and senior outfielder Jillian Runyon etch her name atop one of the program’s career records.
In earning a doubleheader sweep over North Park University on Friday, Titans head coach Tiffany Prager recorded the 100th victory of her career. Prager is in just her third season as the Titans’ head coach, having collected a 100-35-1 record through the milestone game. In 2018, she led the program to a second-place finish in the Division III Championships. The Titans reached the “final eight”in Division III in each of Prager’s first two seasons at the helm.
Following Friday’s pair of victories that included Prager’s milestone win, the Titans earned two wins on Saturday over Elmhurst as they also celebrated Senior Day festivities.
Senior Jillian Runyon celebrated her day of honor with a record-setting performance of her own, capturing the program’s career hits record with the 205th base knock of her storied Titans career. Runyon averaged sixty-one hits a season through the first three years of her career, and overtook the previous career mark set by program alum Ashley Deck (2005-08).
Runyon is batting .276 on the year, having played in just twenty-three of her team’s thirty-one games this season. A three-time all-conference first-team selection, Runyon also owns the program single-season record for stolen bases after swiping fifty-seven bags in 2017.
Riding a streak of three consecutive appearances in the Division III Championships, the Titans are 25-6 on the 2019 season, with a perfect 10-0 mark in conference play. The squad is set to end their season on April 28, with the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships to follow and begin the postseason.
