Minnesota head coach Jamie Trachsel will be named the next head coach at Ole Miss, sources have confirmed to JWOS.
Upon her hiring being made official, Trachsel will be the sixth full-time head coach in Rebels’ program history, following Mike Smith, who resigned in December, and Ruben Felix, who served as interim head coach for the 2020 campaign.
Trachsel recently completed her third season at Minnesota, compiling a 102-40-1 record during her tenure. She shepherded the Gophers to their first Women’s College World Series berth in program history a year ago, leading the team to a top-8 national seed in the NCAA tournament and an undefeated run through the Regional and Super Regional rounds.
Prior to her tenure in Minneapolis, Trachsel spent a single season at Iowa State and fourteen years on staff at North Dakota State, including six seasons as co-head coach. Her career record as a head and co-head coach is 346-184-1, while she owns a 12-14 record in the NCAA tournament.
Ole Miss finished the abbreviated 2020 season with a 12-13 overall record, with an 0-3 showing in the first – and, ultimately only – conference series. The Rebels finished the 2019 season with a 41-20 overall record, ending their year with a berth in the Tucson Super Regional.
