Former South Carolina infielder Jana Johns is transferring to Oklahoma, the school announced on Friday afternoon.
A rising junior in 2021 thanks to the NCAA’s extended eligibility waiver, Johns has two years of eligibility remaining.
Johns started every game that she played in over the last three seasons for South Carolina, totaling 146 appearances, and posted a batting average of .301 during her tenure in Columbia. She notched 25 career home runs and 98 RBIs, with a slugging percentage of .577.
The Calhoun, Georgia native’s finest season came in 2019, when she hit .348 on the year, with fifteen home runs and 44 RBIs. She registered thirty walks and a .500 on-base percentage during that season, her sophomore campaign. An SEC All-Freshman and All-Defensive honoree after her freshman year, Johns earned second-team all-conference and all-region honors following her sophomore season.
She joins an Oklahoma squad that posted a 20-4 record during the abbreviated 2020 season. The Sooners are riding a 4-year streak of Women’s College World Series appearances, and reached the national championship series in three of the last four years.
