Nicholls is expected to name Justin Lewis as their new head coach, sources confirmed to JWOS on Tuesday.
Lewis spent the 2021 season as an assistant at Fresno State, working with the team’s offense and serving as third-base coach for part of the year. The Bulldog offense batted .295 as a unit this season, with 47 home runs and a .389 team on-base percentage.
Prior to his tenure at Fresno State, Lewis spent the 2020 season on staff at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He previously was an assistant coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville and was part of the Javelinas’ staff that led the program to a national runner-up finish in the D2 Championship.
A former collegiate baseball player, Lewis spent three years as a baseball coach and nine years as a firefighter before entering the college softball coaching profession.
