Samford has hired Ole Miss alum Kaitlin Lee as the program’s new assistant coach.
Lee spent the 2019 season as a graduate assistant on staff at her alma mater, and was part of a staff that led the Rebels to forty-one wins, a #11 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, and a berth in the Tucson Super Regional.
The Gulfport, Mississippi native rose to prominence during her career at Ole Miss that stretched from 2017-18, as she led the Rebels to what was then the only Super Regional berth in school history in 2017. In her pair of seasons in the circle for the Rebels, Lee posted thirty-nine career wins, with a 2.03 career ERA.
During her impressive 2017 campaign, Lee tied a school record for wins and set an additional four single-season records. She was named a second-team all-American after the season. She ranks in the top five in four different categories in the program’s all-time record books.
Prior to transferring to Ole Miss, Lee spent two years on the roster at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, earned all-American honors in her sophomore season and posting forty-two wins.
Lee joins a coaching staff that led the Bulldogs to a 23-31 overall record, including an 11-6 record in Southern Conference play. The team posted a batting average of .258, while the program’s pitching staff amassed a cumulative 4.69 ERA.
