Ole Miss has added Kara Shutt to their staff as the volunteer assistant coach.
Shutt spent the last two seasons as a graduate manager at South Carolina, and enjoyed a stellar playing career at Elon. During playing career, Shutt set the Elon program record for doubles and finished her career second in program history with more than 250 career hits. She recorded 114 RBIs, 142 runs scored, and a .373 batting average during her time in a Phoenix uniform.
A three-time All-Colonial Athletic Association honoree, Shutt was named an NFCA All-American as a senior in 2018, batting .425 on the year.
In a school statement, first-year Ole Miss head coach Jamie Trachsel said, “Kara is a winner and self-starter. Her drive and commitment to her growth and development as a coach, along with her experience and success both as a player and part of the coaching staff at South Carolina the last two years will make her a valuable piece of our coaching staff here at Ole Miss. We look forward to all of the great attributes this young woman brings with her, as a person and coach, as she joins us in our efforts to build and sustain a championship culture here at Ole Miss.”
Shutt’s hiring caps a staff overhaul in Oxford this summer. The Rebels finished the abbreviated 2020 season with a 12-13 overall record.
