Former South Carolina pitcher Karly Heath is transferring to Louisiana-Lafayette, sources confirmed to JWOS.
A sophomore during the 2020 season, Heath will have three years of eligibility remaining under the NCAA’s extended eligibility waiver.
Heath also announced the news on her Twitter page, writing “As one chapter closes in my life, it is time for me to start a new one. With that being said, I have decided to transfer to The University of Louisiana Lafayette. I can’t thank Coach Glasco and his staff enough for giving me this opportunity to go compete and a chance to win a national championship. I would like to thank the University of South Carolina for the past two years. I won’t forget the friends and memories that I have made with them. I can’t wait to start this new chapter! GEAUX CAJUNS BABY.”
During her freshman season in 2019, Heath batted .315 and recorded an 8-0 record in the pitching circle. Her offensive numbers included eleven runs scored and sixteen RBIs, while she notched a 2.48 ERA and 42 strikeouts from the circle.
The Augusta, South Carolina native was undefeated as a pitcher during her Gamecock tenure, finishing the 2020 season with a 5-0 record and a .162 opponent’s batting average.
