Upper Iowa has added Kelsey Aikey as an assistant coach, the school announced on Monday.
“Super super excited for this opportunity!! Ready to get to work!” Aikey wrote on Twitter on Monday night.
Aikey finished her playing career with the 2021 season, utilizing her “super senior” season following the NCAA’s extended eligibility waiver due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During her career as a Hilltopper, Aikey collected a 2.60 lifetime ERA with 47 wins in the circle. She notched 554 career strikeouts in 533 innings pitched and held opposing hitters to a .221 batting average during her five years at WKU.
A native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Aikey marks the first hiring to Kiki Stokes’ inaugural coaching staff with the Peacocks.
