Who is she? Kendall Grimm, a former speedster and outfielder for the Wisconsin Badgers.
What is she known for? Grimm was twice named an all-Big Ten performer, including a first-team nod in 2012 and a nomination to the all-conference second team in 2013. She ranks in the top ten in six statistical categories in the Badger record books, including tenth all-time with her .304 career batting average and fifth all-time in games played with 209.
Here’s something interesting… Prior to becoming a softball star, Grimm was a competitive figure skater!
Quotable quote: [on what tip she would pass along to the next generation of players]“Be confident in yourself and your skills! In the case that you do struggle at some part of the game, never put yourself down in front of a coach or teammate. I think a lot of young athletes do this and joke about their flaws to provide an excuse for themselves. This attitude comes across as not being appreciative for your coaches’ hard work and not being willing to push yourself past what you think you know. Allow yourself to grow without holding yourself back!”
What’s she up to now? After college, Grimm embarked on a coaching career that now finds her as the volunteer assistant coach at North Dakota State. Grimm was a part of the 2017 Summit League champion and regional-bound Bison squad as a member of the coaching staff; in addition to coaching, Grimm is working on completing her Ph.D. in the field of Civil Engineering Water Resources, which she intends to graduate with later this year.
