Kendall Potts will join the Auburn coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, sources confirmed to JWOS. An announcement is expected later in the week.
A redshirt senior during the 2020 season, Potts elected not to take advantage of the NCAA’s extended eligibility waiver and will instead begin her coaching career.
Potts began her playing career at Baylor before transferring to Texas A&M for her final two seasons of eligibility. Selected to the Big 12’s All-Freshman Team in 2015, she played two years for the Baylor Bears and recorded a 21-4 overall record during her time in Waco. Her true junior season ended prematurely due to injury, and proved to be her final year as a Bear.
During her two seasons at Texas A&M, Potts made forty-three appearances for the Aggies, including thirty-one starts. She recorded 12 wins and a 3.14 ERA during the 2019 season, leading the team’s pitching unit with 86 strikeouts. During the abbreviated 2020 campaign, Potts recorded 38 strikeouts and a 5-5 record. She notched an impressive complete-game effort against Oklahoma, giving up two runs and striking out seven in the hard-luck loss.
In joining the Auburn staff, Potts completes the team’s on-field coaching unit and will work with a pitching staff that finished the shortened 2020 season with a 2.99 ERA and an opponent’s batting average of .243.
