Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has named Kristen Zaleski as the program’s new head coach.
Zaleski most recently was the head coach at Temple College for nine seasons, collecting a 413-127 overall record during her tenure. She led the program to the NJCAA Division I national championship title in 2018.
During Zaleski’s tenure at Temple, the program won their conference championship on five occasions, reaching the national championship tournament four times. The Temple College coaching staff was named NJCAA Coaching Staff of the Year in 2018.
Prior to taking the helm at Temple, Zaleski spent the 2006 season as a graduate assistant coach at Texas State, her alma mater.
A Bobcats alum, Zaleski earned a pair of all-American awards during her career at Texas State and was named the Southland Conference’s Player of the Year in 2003 and ’04. She holds the conference career records for hits and stolen bases. Zaleski also spent five years in the National Pro Fastpitch league and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player in 2005.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished the 2019 season with an 8-43 overall record, including a 3-23 mark in Southland Conference play. The Islanders last reached the conference postseason in 2015.
