James Madison and head coach Loren LaPorte have agreed to a four-year contract extension that will last through June of 2022.
LaPorte took over as interim head coach of the Dukes following previous head coach Mickey Dean’s departure to become head coach at Auburn. The interim tag was taken off of LaPorte’s title in December as she received a short-term contract that was scheduled to run through the end of June.
In her lone season at the helm of the Dukes, LaPorte led the program to a 43-14 overall record and a 19-2 mark in CAA conference play. The Dukes won the conference’s regular-season title and advanced to the NCAA tournament after a second-place finish in the conference tournament.
Before being named head coach, LaPorte had spent five seasons as an assistant coach on Dean’s staff at JMU. Her resume also includes three years as an assistant at Radford under Dean, as well as a single season as an assistant coach at Roanoke College, her alma mater.
