Carter was a recent graduate of Montgomery High School in Montgomery, Louisiana, and was to join LSUE in the fall to help the Bengals on their quest to repeat as NJCAA Division II national champions.
A catcher, Carter led her Montgomery High team to the state tournament three years in a row and played in the LHSCA All-Star Game. Along with twin sister Carlee, Jaycee signed with LSUE in May.
In a statement released by LSUE, head coach Andy Lee said, “We are all in shock and completely devastated. We are heartbroken for her sister, Carlee, and her family and ask the entire LSUE family keep Jaycee’s family in their prayers. Jaycee was a kind person and talented athlete. I enjoyed being around her and her family during the recruitment process, and I hurt for all of those affected by her passing.”
Funeral services are set for Tuesday, June 11, at 10:00 am at the Verda Church of Christ.
