Oregon pitcher Maddie MacGrandle has left the Ducks program, as first reported on Monday afternoon by The Oregonian in Eugene.
MacGrandle joined the Ducks over the summer after leaving the Texas A&M program, one of three so-called “marquee” transfers signed by first-year head coach Melyssa Lombardi. Two of those transfers, including MacGrandle, were pitchers placed on scholarship at Oregon.
In fifteen appearances this season, MacGrandle struggled heavily, posting a 3-7 record and a 7.81 ERA on the year. The latter mark ranks last in the PAC-12, as the sophomore pitcher allowed forty-eight earned runs, on fifty-eight hits in 43 innings of work. She collected thirty-six strikeouts and allowed forty-four walks, with thirteen wild pitches. Opponents hit .322 off of MacGrandle in her limited work, assembling twenty-four extra-base hits, including nine home runs.
As of Monday afternoon, MacGrandle had been removed from Oregon’s online roster. Her departure leaves the Ducks with just two pitchers on the active roster, including former Virginia Tech transfer Jordan Dail (10-8, 3.77 ERA, 133.2 IP) and freshman walk-on Kailey Krueger (0-3, 9.45 ERA, 20 IP).
