Former Alabama pitcher Madison Preston is transferring to Arizona State, the school announced via social media on Monday.
Preston appeared sparingly during the 2019 season, appearing in eight games with one start. She collected 12.2 innings of work with fourteen strikeouts, allowing ten earned runs. She did not earn a decision in any of her eight appearances, and did not appear in the postseason for her team.
During the 2018 season, Preston posted a 3.17 ERA and a 7-5 overall record in twenty-one appearances, including twelve starts. She earned a victory over Auburn in the SEC tournament that same season after throwing two shutout innings against the Tigers.
At Arizona State, Preston joins a Sun Devil pitching staff that posted a cumulative ERA of 4.64 during the 2019 season. The squad’s pitching proved to be their Kryptonite during a season that saw the team hit ninety-one home runs. Other notable statistics posted by the Sun Devils’ staff include a .288 opponent’s batting average, 211 strikeouts, and 182 walks.
