Former Oregon pitcher Maggie Balint announced on Monday that she will transfer to San Diego State for the final two years of her career.
Making the announcement via her personal Instagram account, Balint said, “Happy to announce I will be spending the next 2 years at San Diego State finishing up my academic and athletic career!! Thank you to everyone that has supported me through the last couple of months! #newchapter”
Balint announced in February her intentions to leave Oregon, the last pitcher from the 2018 squad to depart the Ducks’ program. In 2018, in injury-limited action, Balint posted a 7-1 win-loss record with a 2.11 ERA. She collected sixty-two strikeouts in just shy of sixty innings pitched.
As a freshman in 2017, Balint earned first-team all-PAC 12 honors and was a top three finalist for National Freshman of the Year after posting a team-leading 1.22 ERA and collected 152 strikeouts in 126 innings.
After departing Oregon, Balint did not play during the 2019 season, instead taking the year off. She now joins a San Diego State team that finished the 2019 season with a 25-26 overall record, including a 12-12 mark in Mountain West conference play.
