Boise State has announced Maggie Livreri as the Broncos’ new head coach. Livreri replaces Cindy Ball, who accepted the head coaching position at Central Florida last week.
Livreri had most recently been the associate head coach at Utah, spending seven seasons on the assistant coaching staff with the Utes. During her tenure, the Utes reached the NCAA tournament in three straight seasons, from 2015-17, and reached the Super Regional round in 2016 and 2017.
Under Livreri’s tutelage, the Utes offense performed well in the 2017 season particularly, recording a .318 team batting average, a mark that ranked 16th in the nation. The team’s statistical production fell in 2018, with a .275 team batting average and .338 on-base percentage. Also known as a catching instructor, a Livreri pupil earned the PAC-12’s all-defensive team honor at the position in each season from 2015-17.
Prior to joining the staff at Utah, Livreri had been an assistant coach at her alma mater, UNLV, spending time as both a volunteer assistant and full-time assistant coach on the Rebels’ staff. She was a part of the coaching staff that helped lead the squad to the 2009 NCAA tournament.
She takes over a Boise State program that earned the first conference championship in program history in 2018 after posting a 40-16 overall record and an 18-6 conference mark.
