The Manatee Squeeze have announced their roster for the inaugural Florida Gulf Coast League season.
One of seven league teams, the Squeeze are led by Jacksonville assistant Mario Hernandez and Palm Beach Atlantic graduate assistant Carsyn Gordon.
In the first year of sponsoring a softball summer league after previously beginning a similar baseball offering, the FGCL schedule will begin on June 18 and run for a five-week season. The league is comprised of seven teams, with players coming from active rosters on a variety of collegiate levels.
Fourteen players representing eleven Division I programs make up the Squeeze roster. Northwestern, Louisville, and Florida Atlantic each placed two players on the team.
The roster is headlined by Northwestern pitcher Kenna Wilkey and Clemson catcher Abi Stuart. Wilkey owns a 3.25 ERA in over 318 innings of work during her career at Northwestern, collecting 275 strikeouts. She owns ten career home runs and fifty RBIs on the offensive side of the ball. Stuart batted .222 in eighteen at-bats during the Tigers’ inaugural season in 2020. The full roster is listed below.
