Tennessee Tech has hired Michelle DePolo as the program’s new head coach, the school announced earlier in the week.
DePolo most recently spent nine years as the head coach at Army, a tenure that ended prior to the 2019 season. During her time at the helm of the Black Knights, DePolo collected 280 wins and led the program to an NCAA tournament berth in 2013.
While at Army, DePolo shepherded the Black Knights to a number of program firsts, including a number of offensive and defensive program records. She was twice named the Patriot League’s Coach of the Year and guided nearly two dozen all-conference selections.
In addition to her tenure as the Black Knights’ head coach, DePolo previously spent a pair of seasons as an assistant coach on the Army coaching staff. Her resume also includes stints as an assistant coach at Georgian Court, Smith College, and Amherst College. A Georgian Court alum, DePolo was elected to that program’s Hall of Fame in 2012.
At Tennessee Tech, DePolo assumes the helm of a Golden Eagles program that posted an 18-27 overall record during the 2019 season. The squad went 8-14 in conference play, posting a team batting average of .241. The TTech pitching staff posted a cumulative ERA of 4.25 with 193 strikeouts.
