Chelsea Bramlett has been named the head coach at Northwest Mississippi Community College, according to a press release from the school on Friday, August 9th.
“I am so excited and blessed to have this opportunity to coach at Northwest,” Bramlett said in the school’s release. “I cannot thank the administration enough for what they have done and I am excited for the future of Northwest softball.”
Bramlett played at Mississippi State from 2007-10, rewriting the program’s record book during her time as a Bulldog. She actively holds four program career records, including for batting average (.461); hits (359); runs scored (219); and stolen bases (207). She also holds the program’s single-season marks for batting average and stolen bases (.536 and 61, respectively), both of which were set during her senior season in 2010.
The starting catcher for the Bulldogs during her career, Bramlett’s .536 batting average during the 2010 season ranks in the top ten of highest single-season marks all-time in NCAA history. Bramlett earned a quartet of all-American honors and was three times named National Catcher of the Year. In 2016, Bramlett was elected to the Mississippi State Hall of Fame and was named an SEC Legend the same year.
A member of Team USA from 2009-10, Bramlett helped lead Team USA to gold medals at the Canada Cup, Japan Cup, and twice at the World Cup of Softball.
Prior to taking the helm at Northwest Mississippi, Bramlett spent five seasons as the head coach at Lewisburg High School in Olive Branch, Mississippi, where she owned a .799 winning percentage. Her coaching resume also includes a stint at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, Tennessee.
