Molly Jacobsen is transferring to Texas, she confirmed via social media on Wednesday night. She will play the 2021 season under the NCAA’s extended eligibility waiver.
“I’m so excited to announce that I will be attending the University of Texas this fall!! I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get down to Austin! God is so good. Hook ’em!” she wrote.
Jacobsen earned second-team All-SEC and All-Region honors in 2019, finishing the season with a 14-8 overall record in 166.1 innings of work. She ended the year with a 2.15 ERA and finished sixth in the SEC with 166 strikeouts from the circle; her innings count ranked seventh in the conference. During the abbreviated 2020 season, Jacobsen held a 3.42 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 71.2 innings of work, notching a 5-6 win-loss record and a strikeout/walk ratio of nearly 3/1.
Prior to joining Ole Miss, Jacobsen played two seasons at Des Moines Area Community College, earning a pair of first-team All-American honors and being named the NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Year in 2018. She finished her junior college tenure with a 51-6 overall record and 585 strikeouts.
The Texas pitching staff combined for a 1.78 ERA during the abbreviated 2020 season; ace Miranda Elish has publicly said that she will return for the 2021 season as an extended eligibility senior.
