The Myakka City River Mocs have announced their team roster for the inaugural season of the Florida Gulf Coast League.
In the first year of sponsoring a softball summer league after previously beginning a similar baseball offering, the FGCL has previously announced plans to continue with their summer schedule despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The league is comprised of six teams, with players coming from active rosters on a variety of collegiate levels.
Missouri volunteer assistant coach and Hofstra alum Michaela Transue serves as the River Mocs’ head coach, her first head coaching position since graduating from Hofstra in 2018. The team’s 15-member roster includes representatives from eight NCAA Division I conferences, as well as the Division II and NAIA levels of competition.
BYU and UCF are each represented by a pair of players on the team’s roster, while Washington utility player Ari Quinones and Southern Illinois outfielder Jenny Jansen bring some name recognition to the team. A pair of incoming collegiate freshmen, Furman’s Claire Ginder and UCF’s Megan Wright, also highlight the roster. The full roster is listed below.
