Bowman previously announced her intentions to transfer from Rutgers during the summer portion of the offseason, and sources at that time informed JWOS that Bowman was likely to sit out the 2020 season. This will be the case, as she will join the 49ers’ program in the fall of 2020, in preparation for the 2021 season.
In her announcement on social media, Bowman said, “Beyond excited to announce my official transfer to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to continue my athletic and academic career as a grad student! I am so thankful for everything that Rutgers has given me, and I can’t wait to start this new chapter come fall 2020!! Niner nation here I come.”
During her three years at Rutgers, Bowman collected a .273 batting average and knocked fourteen home runs, with seventy-nine RBI and a .355 on-base percentage to her credit. She played a role in helping lead the Scarlet Knights to their highest-ever seed in the conference tournament as a member of the Big Ten.
The Charlotte 49ers finished the 2019 season with a 15-35 overall record, and in 2020 will play their inaugural season under first-year head coach Ashley Chastain, who was hired to take over the program in June after a pair of seasons as pitching coach at Ole Miss.
