Allie Walljasper has been named the new assistant coach at North Dakota State, the school announced on Monday.
Walljasper spent the 2019 season as a student assistant coach at LSU, her first career coaching role after a stellar four-year playing career with the Tigers.
During her playing career with the Tigers, Walljasper was a three-time all-American and four-time all-region selection, and was named the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2015. She was twice named to the all-conference team and owns the LSU and SEC longevity record after a 19-inning win over Ole Miss in 2018 that saw her go the distance in the circle.
Walljasper’s career stats from her tenure at LSU include a 64-24 overall record and a 1.56 earned run average. She collected 434 strikeouts during her collegiate career and opponents posted a batting average of just .213 against her.
A dual-threat player, Walljasper added a career .219 batting average in her own right, with nine home runs and thirty-four RBI.
At North Dakota State, Walljasper replaces Melissa Chmielewski on the Bison’s coaching staff. NDSU posted a 42-16 overall record during the 2019 season and won the tenth Summit League tournament championship to reach the NCAA tournament.
