Northwestern and head coach Kate Drohan have agreed to a contract extension, the school announced on Thursday.
The pact is a five-year extension that will keep Drohan at the helm of the Wildcats through the 2023 season. Drohan has been the head coach at Northwestern since 2002.
Drohan is thirty wins away from the 600-victory plateau for her career with the Wildcats, and owns the third-highest career winning percentage in Big Ten conference history. Under her guidance, the program has appeared in the NCAA tournament twelve times, with four Super Regional appearances and a pair of Women’s College World Series berths in her seventeen years at the helm.
The Wildcats are coming off of a 2018 campaign that saw the squad post a 38-19 overall record, with an appearance in the Big Ten tournament championship game and the NCAA regional round. Freshman infielder Rachel Lewis earned all-American honors following the season.
