UPDATE 09/17/19: Ohio State officially announced Buresch’s addition in a press release earlier today.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Payton Buresch has found her new destination, electing to transfer to Ohio State, according to a report on Tuesday by Softball America.
Buresch entered the NCAA’s transfer portal earlier in the summer, a report that JWOS brought to you in June. She earned all-conference second-team honors in 2019 after posting a 6-1 win-loss record and a 1.64 ERA in forty-seven innings in the circle. She was used primarily in a relief role, with just four starts in nineteen appearances.
During the 2018 season, her freshman year, Buresch was named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year. She was named to the all-region first team and all-CAA second team, ending her inaugural campaign with an 18-5 overall record and a 1.96 ERA, adding ninety strikeouts in just shy of 154 innings of work.
At Ohio State, she joins a Buckeyes team that posted a 35-18 overall record in the 2019 season, with a 17-6 conference mark. The Buckeyes’ pitching staff recorded a 2.29 cumulative ERA on the year, with a .218 opponent’s batting average.
