TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
Whitney Goldstein has been named the new head coach at Rhode Island, the school announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Goldstein spent the last eight years as the head coach at WPI (Worcester Polytechnic Institute), a Division III school in Worcester, Massachusetts. While at WPI, she led the Engineers to four regular-season championships, three NCAA tournament appearances, and two Super Regional berths.
Boasting a career record of 230-90, Goldstein was twice named the NEWMAC Coach of the Year and was also the ECAC Regional Coach of the Year in 2016.
Prior to her tenure at WPI, Goldstein’s resume includes three years at Amherst College, including one season as interim head coach, and one year as support staff at UMass, her alma mater.
During her playing career at UMass, Goldstein was the first player in A10 history to earn both the conference’s Player and Rookie of the Year trophies in the same season. She was a 3-time all-conference selection and a 3-time all-region honoree. She set a Minutewomen program record with 156 career RBIs.
