Mt. San Antonio College has announced the re-hiring of Ruby Rojas as the program’s head softball coach.
Rojas previously spent seven seasons leading the Mt. SAC program, collecting 276 wins and an .839 winning percentage during her initial tenure. She guided the Mounties’ program to back-to-back California Community College Athletic Association championships in 2018 and ’19, a first in CCCAA softball history.
In August of 2019, Rojas departed the Mt. SAC program to take the second assistant’s position at Auburn. She spent the abbreviated 2020 season with the Tigers, helping lead the squad to a 16-11 showing on the year.
During Rojas’ single-year absence from Mt. SAC, former assistant coach Alex Mascarenas served as the program’s interim head coach. The Mounties were 18-1 during the abbreviated 2020 campaign, and began their season on a 13-game winning streak. The squad outscored opponents 147-22 during that streak.
Prior to taking the helm for her initial stint at Mt. SAC, Rojas served as both an assistant and head coach at Orange Coast College. She spent ten years as part of the Venezuelan national team during her playing days, including participating in the 2008 Olympic Games. A Virginia graduate, Rojas was named an All-American in 2001 and was a three-time All-ACC honoree during her playing career.
