Laura Taylor has been selected for induction into the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2019.
Taylor is one of the greatest players in Pirates program history, holding a pair of program records and a plethora of awards and honors from her time at SHU.
During her tenure at Seton Hall, Taylor helped lead the Pirates to back-to-back Big East tournament championships and NCAA tournament appearances in 2004 and ‘05. She was selected as the 2005 Big East Player of the Year and was a three-time all-conference first-team selection.
Statistically, Taylor ended her career as the Big East’s all-time leader in conference home runs and led the NCAA in home runs per game as a freshman in 2002. She ended her Pirate career as the program’s all-time leader in home runs (59) and runs batted in (160). She also ranks in the all-time top ten in four other offensive categories in the program’s record books, including batting average; hits; doubles; and walks.
Joining Taylor as part of the Class of 2019 are Eoin Monahan (soccer); Rich Scheid (baseball); Ka-Deidre Simmons (women’s basketball); and a pair of university administrators. The group will be formally inducted in an enshrinement dinner on June 19th.
Taylor is the third former softballer to join the Pirates Hall of Fame, joining fellow program greats Phyllis A. Mangina (inducted in 1991) and Megan Meyer (inducted in 2010).
