The Eugene Exodus continues, as junior outfielder Shannon Rhodes and incoming freshman outfielder Alyssa Pinto have both elected to leave Oregon and transfer via the NCAA’s transfer portal.
Rhodes, a Fort Worth, Texas native, broke onto the scene in 2017, earning PAC-12 all-Freshman honors and being named the Most Valuable Player of the Eugene Regional. After hitting .336 with seven home runs during the regular season, Rhodes hit .778 in the Ducks’ hosted regional, scoring four runs and collecting four RBIs in three games. In 2018, Rhodes posted a .347 batting average with eleven home runs and a .576 slugging percentage – a mark that ranked third on the Ducks’ roster – en route to second-team all-Region honors.
Pinto was to take the field for the Ducks for the first time in 2019 after joining Oregon as a freshman this fall. She earned the #104 overall final ranking in the class of 2018, according to Brentt Eads of Extra Inning Softball, and ended her club career as a member of the Beverly Bandits after spending time on a variety of travel ball teams due to her father’s military career.
The pair of outfielders join former teammates Miranda Elish, Mary Iakopo, and Lauren Burke in having left the Ducks via transfer this offseason. Elish and Burke followed former head coach Mike White to Texas, while Iakopo has not yet announced her new destination.
With the departures of Rhodes and Pinto, the Ducks’ active roster stands at just fourteen, according to the team’s website.
