USC-Upstate alum Shellie Robinson will be inducted into the program’s athletics Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2020, the school announced late last week.
Robinson enjoyed a stellar career during her playing days at Upstate, accumulating program records including career batting average (.389), runs scored (218), hits (264), home runs (70), and RBIs (198), among among eight total all-time statistical bests. Robinson was a two-time ASun conference Player of the Year and earned an All-American nod in 2014.
Now an assistant coach at Stetson, Robinson’s career at USC-Upstate also saw the program reach three consecutive NCAA tournaments from 2013-15. After her collegiate career, Robinson went on to play professionally for the Akron Racers and Cleveland Comets, knocking twenty-four home runs during her professional career.
Joining Robinson in induction as part of the class of 2020 are Valerie Scott (basketball) and Kenny Sugishita (track & field). The trio will be inducted in a ceremony on February 1st in Spartanburg.
Robinson is the eighth Spartan softball alum to join the program’s Hall of Fame.
