Siena head coach Bill Lajeunesse is retiring, the school announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Lajeunesse spent ten years as the Saints’ head coach, collecting exactly 200 victories during his tenure. The winningest coach in program history, Lajeunesse’s squad reached the 20-win mark eight times during his tenure, and he is one of just seven coaches in MAAC history to reach the 200 career victory plateau.
Under his tutelage, the Saints saw thirteen players selected to the all-conference first-team, while Shannon Jones (2012) and Madysen Cossack (2017, 2019) were named the league’s Player of the Year.
Prior to his tenure as Siena head coach, Lajeunesse spent four years as an assistant coach with the program and was previously a longtime high school coach and educator.
The Saints finished the abbreviated 2020 season with a 3-10 record and had not yet begun conference play when the COVID-19 pandemic prematurely ended the campaign.
