A van carrying members of the University of Southern Indiana softball team was involved in a crash on Saturday night.
The Screaming Eagles played a pair of games in Owensboro, Kentucky on Saturday and were traveling home when the accident occurred. Owensboro is less than fifty miles from USI’s campus in Evansville, Indiana.
Southern Indiana athletic director Jon Mark Hall released the following statement to WFIE in Owensboro: “University of Southern Indiana Softball was involved in a traffic accident in Owensboro, Kentucky, while traveling back from a pair of games in the Blue Bridge Battle at Kentucky Legends Field. The accident resulted in injuries, none were life threatening, and several players had to be transported Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. More information will be released as it becomes available.”
By Sunday morning, sources told JWOS that the players had been released from the hospital with “bumps and bruises” as the primary lingering injuries.
The Screaming Eagles were scheduled to play a pair of games on Sunday, against Northwood and Kentucky Wesleyan, but those games have been cancelled.
