Stacy May-Johnson has been named the new head coach at Utah Valley, the school announced on Monday night.
May-Johnson spent the past two years on staff at Eastern Kentucky, where she held the title of associate head coach. She helped guide the Colonels to eighty wins in a pair of seasons, including the Ohio Valley conference title in 2018.
In a statement, Utah Valley athletic director Jared Sumsion said, “”Stacy May-Johnson quickly came to the forefront of our coaching search and we’re thrilled to have her take over the softball program as our new head coach. She has coached and played at the highest levels and has had success everywhere she’s been. I’m excited for her to continue the acceleration of our program and for our student-athletes to learn from someone with her accomplishments.”
Prior to joining the coaching staff at EKU, May-Johnson’s resume also includes stints on staff at Iowa; Purdue; and a pair of tenures at Louisville.
Utah Valley finished the 2019 season with a 15-31 overall record, including a 7-11 mark in Western Athletic Conference matchups. The squad finished the season with a .286 team batting average, while the Wolverines’ pitchers assembled a 5.55 cumulative ERA.
