Jen Starek has been hired as the new head coach at UMass-Lowell, the school announced on Monday.
Starek spent the last fifteen years as the head coach at New Haven and became the program’s all-time winningest head coach during her tenure. She led the Chargers to nine postseason appearances, including a Super Regional berth in 2010. The program went 28-9 during the 2021 season.
A two-time NE10 Conference Coach of the Year, Starek most recently earned the award in 2014. She assembled 418 victories during her tenure at UNH, with a record of 418-235-2 at the helm of the Chargers.
Prior to her tenure at New Haven, Starek spent two seasons as head softball and field hockey coach at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. Her coaching resume also includes a stint in a multi-faceted role at Mount Ida College and at her alma mater, Springfield College.
