Utah Valley has named Whitney Arion as the program’s new assistant coach.
At UVU, Arion rejoins Stacy May-Johnson, who she previously served with on staff at Eastern Kentucky. May-Johnson was named the Wolverines’ head coach prior to the 2020 season.
Arion spent the last five seasons on staff at Eastern Kentucky, and was part of the staff that won the Ohio Valley Conference title in 2018. During her tenure, the Colonels earned more than 160 wins and were a consistent offensive powerhouse.
Prior to joining the staff at EKU, Arion was a four-year starter at Louisville. She was an all-conference selection all four years of her career, including earning First Team All-ACC honors as a senior. For her career, Arion owned a .295 batting average and 131 RBIs. She played two seasons of professional softball in the summers of 2015 and ’16.
During the abbreviated 2020 season, Utah Valley posted a 12-7 overall record in May-Johnson’s first season at the helm. The squad owned a .317 team batting average, with 166 hits and 90 runs scored during the course of the year.
