The Washington Huskies have filled out their coaching staff, the school announced on Friday afternoon.
Kyle Nobach – a native of the state of Washington and 2018 graduate of Oregon State – will be a full-time assistant coach for the Huskies’ program. Nobach spent one year as the associate head baseball coach at Everett Community College in 2018 and served as head coach of the Bend Elks, a summer collegiate baseball team, in 2019.
Since 2019, Nobach has worked as a private instructor in Washington, working primarily with hitters. A UW press release noted of Nobach’s duties with the Huskies that he will be “in charge of offensive development and the outfield.”
“Coach Nobach comes from one of the most competitive college baseball programs in the country. His time as a student-athlete at Oregon State combined with his recent coaching experience and head coaching experience will bring a lot to our program,” head coach Heather Tarr said in a statement. “He was part of a national championship program while serving as team captain. These intangibles will bring a lot to the women in our program.”
In addition to Nobach’s hiring, the Huskies named Ashley Carter – a 2008 Grambling State graduate and most recently a community college head coach – as volunteer assistant. Carter will work with the Huskies’ “offensive development and the catchers.”
Program legend Sis Bates will also return to the program as a student-assistant coach. Bates graduated from the UW program following the 2021 season and is currently playing with Athletes Unlimited in her first year as a pro athlete. This summer, while the remaining Washington coaching staff was coaching in the Tokyo Olympics, Bates filled in on the recruiting trail for the Huskies.
Nobach and Carter replace JT D’Amico and Whitney Jones on the Huskies’ coaching staff; D’Amico took the top assistant job at Georgia this summer, while Jones joined the full-time staff at UCF.
