Who is she? Maureen Duddy, a former infielder and outfielder for the Marist Red Foxes.
What is she known for? Duddy played for the Red Foxes from 2013-16 and was a 3-time All-Conference honoree. She earned second-team all-MAAC honors as a sophomore and junior, and gained a nod to the conference first team as a senior in 2016. She finished her career as both the Marist and MAAC record holder for career stolen bases, and also set a program all-time mark for runs scored.
Here’s something interesting… During her career at Marist, Duddy was one of just six California natives to suit up for Marist. Twice during her collegiate tenure, though, California was the most well-represented state on the Red Foxes’ active roster.
Quotable quote: “Failure is an option. I know it’s a cheesy baseball/softball line to say that the best players in the game fail 7/10 times… but it’s true! There are times in the sport and in life where you’re going to make mistakes; you’re going to have bad games, days, weeks, etc. But, ultimately, it is about what you do after that to better yourself and those around you. It’s how you ask for help when you need it, or how you help others if they’re in their slump.”
What’s she up to now? After spending the last two years teaching 7th and 8th grade math, Duddy will begin a new job in the fall as a high school teacher of algebra and geometry. She recently finished the California teaching credential program and earned her Master’s degree from National University. She has coached with the Cal Nuggets travel ball organization since 2013, and also coached at the high school level since graduating from Marist, including at Aragon High School, her alma mater.
