San Jose State quietly embarked on a search for a new head coach on Friday, announcing that Peter Turner's contract will not be renewed. Turner had been the head coach for the Spartans since 2007 and recorded more than 400 wins during his tenure leading the program.
The Spartans have long been a quality mid-major softball program, and are an annual contender for the Mountain West crown. The Spartans were 21-5 when the 2020 season abruptly ended, and at one point during the year had a 17-game winning streak. As the program searches for their next head coach, could one of these candidates be in line to take over the Spartans' program?
