TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
Former LSU pitcher Maribeth Gorsuch is joining the coaching staff at Grand Canyon, she announced via social media on Sunday morning.
“Today, on Father’s day, I accepted a position to become a D1 softball coach,” Gorsuch wrote on Twitter. “I’m excited to announce that I am officially the pitching coach for GCU! A big thank you to Coach Hays and GCU for giving me this opportunity. Phoenix, AZ.. HERE I COME! Go Lopes!”
Gorsuch finished her playing career at LSU in the Super Regional round, when the Tigers fell two wins shy of a berth in the Women’s College World Series. A “super senior” in 2021, Gorsuch played this season under the NCAA’s extended eligibility waiver after having her true senior season abruptly ended by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During her career at LSU, Gorsuch assembled a 2.77 ERA and a 31-12 win-loss record. She notched 209 strikeouts in 300 innings of work during her career as a Tiger, and opponents hit .220 against her.
Grand Canyon’s pitching staff collected a 4.71 ERA and a 19-30 overall record during the 2021 season. The squad notched 195 strikeouts and an opponent’s batting average of .310 on the year.
Gorsuch is the latest member of LSU head coach Beth Torina’s coaching tree; more than a dozen current Division 1 coaches have either played for or coached under Torina’s leadership.
