TRENDING NOW: NCAA TRANSFER TRACKER / COLLEGE COACHING TRACKER
Palm Beach Atlantic head coach Jessica Cooley has resigned from her position, the school announced over the weekend.
Cooley spent the last two seasons as the head coach at PBA, earning a 32-23 overall record in a pair of years that were each individually marked by effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the 2021 season, the Sailfish posted a 17-12 overall record with a 13-9 mark in Sunshine State conference play.
According to a PBA news release, Cooley is making a family move to Indiana. Her husband, Michael Brown, was formerly on staff within the PBA athletic department and has accepted a new position as Associate Athletic Director for Operations at Purdue-Fort Wayne.
“I am grateful for my time to coach at Palm Beach Atlantic University,” Cooley said in a school release. “My heart is so full and has been expanded tremendously by each student-athlete that I have coached at PBA. I am forever in each of their corners and will be their biggest fans as they continue in the classroom, on the field and in pursuit of their dreams after softball. My family and I are excited for our new chapter, but we will always have a place in our hearts for Palm Beach Atlantic University.”
Prior to taking the helm at Palm Beach Atlantic, Cooley spent a decade in a variety of roles at Mississippi State. After beginning her career in Starkville as a student-athlete, Cooley joined the program’s support staff in 2013 and spent the remainder of the decade in similar administrative roles.
