E:Geri Ann Glasco, a former collegiate star for Georgia and Oregon and the volunteer assistant coach at Louisiana-Lafayette, died in a car wreck in the wee hours of Thursday morning. She was 24.
According to a report from espn1420.com in Lafayette, Geri Ann, the daughter of Ragin’ Cajuns head coach Gerry Glasco, was involved in an auto accident on Interstate 10 around 1:00 in the morning. Based on the espn1420.com report, it appears that an 18-wheeler’s failure to stop resulted in a chain-reaction pileup that included five vehicles and took the life of Geri Ann Glasco, as well as another person.
During her playing career, Geri Ann Glasco earned the Co-Freshman of the Year award for the SEC while playing at Georgia, collecting a pair of all-region honors and an all-American award in her freshman season. She later earned another pair of first-team all-region honors after transferring to Oregon.
Geri Ann had joined the Ragin’ Cajuns’ coaching ranks earlier this offseason, completing her dad’s staff and serving under him for the first time as a coach. Her previous coaching experience included a stint as a student assistant at Oregon in 2017.
