After the tragic, sudden death of Geri Ann Glasco in January, the Sun Belt Conference on Thursday announced league-wide plans to honor the former Oregon and Georgia star.
At the time of her death, Glasco was working as the volunteer assistant coach at Sun Belt member school Louisiana-Lafayette under head coach and her father, Gerry Glasco.
In a post on the conference’s social media, the Sun Belt announced that league teams would wear a custom sticker on their batting helmets during the remainder of this season. To be designed for each team with their respective school colors, the sticker features “Geri Ann” on a banner set on top of the conference’s logo.
“This one’s for you, Geri Ann,” the post said, before detailing the information on the special tribute.
Geri Ann Glasco passed away on January 24th following a car accident in Lafayette. Her passing led to an incredible outpouring of support on social media, with tributes from former teammates and individuals throughout the world of softball.
The Ragin’ Cajuns previously announced a tribute helmet sticker of their own that will also be worn by the Cajuns’ hitters throughout the remainder of the year. That sticker features her name and former collegiate jersey number – 12 – along with her birthdate and date of death.
