Who is she? Alex Jones, a former outfielder and pitcher for the Kansas Jayhawks.

What is she known for? Jones played the super utility role from the very beginning of her college career, putting both her pitching arm and speed in the outfield to work. She led her program in runs scored, stolen bases, and games started in the circle in her freshman season of 2010. She also led the program in stolen bases in three of her four seasons in Lawrence and ranks fifth in programs history in bags swiped. She was named the Big 12 Softball Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2014.

Here’s something interesting… Alex’s sister, Sydni, also played Division I softball, and in the Big 12 conference. Sydni spent three seasons as an Iowa State Cyclone, playing from 2008-2010 after transferring from an NAIA school after her freshman year. Sydni hit twenty home runs in her three seasons with the Cyclones.

Quotable quote: “If you think you can, you will. If you think you can’t, you won’t. Your mindset toward everything determines the outcome, and that mindset is a choice.”

What’s she up to now? After graduating from Kansas in 2014, Alex returned to her native Oklahoma and now works for Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. Her job includes working with medical students and working with acquiring new affiliate physicians and sites. 2018 will also be her first season in the role of Volunteer Assistant Coach with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, a position that she assumed this summer.

Keep up: You can find Alex on Twitter and Instagram.
